As of 1st October 2011 Clacton Animal Aid is part of the National Animal Welfare Trust. We are a re-homing centre for cats and dogs looking for caring, loving homes in North East Essex and South East Suffolk. We usually have 50-60 cats and up to 12 dogs requiring homes. The dogs are given to us by their owners so we should know something about them.

Adopt a Pet
We have small dogs and large dogs looking for a caring home. All our cats are neutered before adoption and the dogs are neutered and vaccinated before adoption. We will not place dogs in homes that have children under 10 years old except under special conditions. Please phone 01255 860062 for clarification. There is no longer a maximum age restriction for adopters. We require a home check before adoption and will require you to meet the dog at the kennels probably on more than one occasion. We no longer have a restricted rehoming area.

Donations Needed
Please visit us. Our Clacton Animal Aid / NAWT shop is at 10 West Avenue, Clacton on Sea. Take some time to look at our range of quality items for sale from books and clothing to household items and toys. All funds raised will go towards the care of our cats and dogs. The shop will be open all day from 10am to 5pm. If you would like to donate items to sell at the shop you can leave them at the shop or the Clacton Animal Aid Cat & Dog Rescue in Little Clacton. Thank you on behalf of the animals.

Any old dog items that you may no longer require such as beds, bowls, leads, toys, tennis balls etc are always welcome at the kennels in Little Clacton, since some of the dogs destroy these!

No Squeeky Toys Please
Toys that make a noise when you squeeze them can encourage some dogs to be aggressive towards young children because they squeek too. The device that makes the noise is usually small and can be harmful if swallowed. Some toys of this type contain a small battery which is poisonous if the dog eats it. The best toys are tuggers, tennis balls and hard chew toys that cannot be ripped apart.
